The St. John's men's bowling team became back-to-back champions on Sunday afternoon in the final round of EIBC Conference matches at Wallingford Bowl. The team started the day 5 points out of first place behind William Paterson and managed to win by 9 at days end.
The Johnnies only had six out of their 30 baker games under 200 as the team averaged 214.6 on the day (6,438 total pins). The team was leading by five points heading into the final five game baker block and needed two points to clinch the title. That came in a decisive game 4 where the team shot 278 to seal the deal.
At the conclusion of competition, all-conference awards were handed out. Brandon Soedarmasto earned both Conference MVP and Rookie of the Year honors, and Will Blanco was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Additionally, Soedarmasto and Blanco shared the conference high game award, Blanco received the high 3 game series award, and Anthony Naujokas earned honors for winning the most match points during team play.
Our next event will be the Shippensburg Classic the first weekend in December where we will also look to defend our title from last year!
