It was an up and down day for the St. John's bowling team at the EIBC Conference Tournament at Knob Hill Lanes in Manalapan, NJ. SJU had one varsity and two JV teams entered for the singles/doubles format.
No tandems placed in the top 3 in the doubles portion of the event, but freshman Chris Vietri won the singles portion by over 50 pins with a 767 series for games 4-6 on the 41' Montreal oil pattern. That set propelled Vietri to a 2nd place all-events finish with a series of 1,379. Also going plus for the day were Anthony Naujokas, AJ Villa, Alika Vendiola and Brandon Soedarmasto.
As a team, the varsity squad finished with a 7,178 pinfall, which trailed William Paterson's A team by 105 pins and their B team by 8 pins. The SJU JV team finished in 6th.
The next event is the biggest regular season tournament of the year -- the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, IN. The team will arrive on Friday and bowl 6 team games on Saturday before baker competition on Sunday.
