The team finished in third place at the Pennsylvania Classic this past weekend with a 9,913 total pinfall over 9 team games and 6 baker games. The finish was slightly disappointing as the Johnnies trailed second place Rochester Institute of Technology by 48 pins, but it was a better showing than last season when the team placed fifth overall.
Freshman Brandon Soedarmasto led the team with an 1,844 series, followed by the 1,827 set recorded by senior captain Will Blanco.
Next Saturday the team will be bowling in the Stevens Invitational in Oakland, NJ, followed by the first EIBC Conference match on Sunday in Farmingdale, NY.
Eight members of the bowling team flew to Dallas, TX this past weekend for a full-day lesson at the International Training & Research Center with coaches Rod Ross, Stephen Padilla and Teresa Ross.
The day began with a bit of classroom instruction as the team was told what would take place throughout the day. Once they hit the lanes, the coaching staff at the ITRC gathered data using C.A.T.S. for each bowler and measured their respective rev rate, axis tilt and rotation, positive axis points and release velocity.
After lunch, the team got the chance to walk through the International Hall of Fame Museum, which is located on site. Then, the coaching staff worked with each bowler for a few hours to improve upon a couple of physical inconsistencies that would allow them to be better able to repeat shots and achieve a greater level of success on the lanes in the immediate future.
Everybody saw much improvement throughout the lesson and made changes that will surely benefit the team and each bowler on the lanes during the upcoming season. Thank you once again to all the staff at the ITRC for a great session!
